Do you ever do a Dragon or Fairy Tale theme in therapy? I’ve recently started using a Fairy Tale theme in the Spring, and I love incorporating dragons along with the fairy tales as well. The awesome thing about Fairy Tales is that you can use this theme year-round! Plus, Fairy Tales are just so much fun! I compiled a list of my favorite Dragon books for speech therapy below. Dragon Books for Speech Therapy
There Was An Old Dragon Who Swallowed a Knight, by Penny Parker Klostermann– This is the cutest book similar to the “Old Lady” series, and it’s perfect for a Fairy Tale theme!
When a Dragon Moves In, by Jodi Moore- This is a precious book about a little boy and his large imagination, as well as his pet dragon!
When a Dragon Moves in Again, by Jodi Moore- This is a sequel to the previous book. This book continues the adventures of a creative little boy and his pet dragon!
Don’t Wake the Dragon, by Bianca Schulze- This is such a cute book that’s perfect for teaching cause and effect!
The Angry Dragon, by Michael Gordon– The book is great for teaching social skills and appropriate responses to feelings!
Me and My Dragon, by David Biedrzycki– I love this story about a boy and his adventures with his pet dragon!
Never Touch a Dragon, by Rosie Greening-This book is perfect for younger children. Additionally, it includes tactile pages for sensory touch!
The Paper Bag Princess, by Robert Munsch– If I had to choose one book about dragons, this would probably be it! It’s such a cute story with a fantastic lesson to be learned about treating others with respect and kindness!
How to Catch a Dragon, by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton– I love the “How to Catch” books, and this one is great for teaching about different cultures!
Dragons Love Tacos, by Adam Rubin– Dragons Love Tacos is the cutest story, and the students love it!
Dragons Love Tacos 2 the Sequel, by Adam Rubin– The sequel is just as cute as the first. My students love the idea of dragons eating tacos, as long as they aren’t too spicy!
The Knight and the Dragon, by Tomie DePaola– I love this story about a dragon who had never fought a knight, and vice versa!
